G-IKON, a VANS RV-4

I am building a VANS RV-4 aircraft. If your not involved in homebuilt aircraft it wont be too interesting, but if you are a part of that elite group it just might be. My intention is to include ONLY the interesting details, so the rate of change will be quite slow!

Setting up the landing gear fairings.

I am pulling out the stops to get everything ready for painting in a few weeks time. This means confronting the fiberglass which I hate. The cowl is nearly complete, and in the next day or so I will start to try to seal it and get rid of pin holes.

Fairings Inc. fairings appear to fit pretty well. That is what I am working on in this picture.

If anyone tries to set up the fairings without doing the 'string thing' ,they are making a big mistake to my mind. With the fairing in the correct position, it looks as though they are splayed out. This is in fact because the fuse tapers.
Don't forget to take the weight off the gear. It is surprising how far the legs move when the jack takes the weight.
