G-IKON, a VANS RV-4

Hi, just came across your 'site. Haven't been to the UK RV 'site for a while. I'm in Oz and have an almost-scratchbuilt RV-4 I first flew in 2003. It's going great, and I commend your choice and reasoning re. weight and simplicity. I used and O-360-A1A, Hendrickson FP wood prop (68x74), Icom radio and AT150 transponder, traditional instruments but not a light or gyro to be found. Basic weight with oil is 964lb @ ~17%MAC. I do have an Raven inverted oil vent tank installed. I have the Mk1 style cowl with 4" prop extension that i grafted the FAB scoop onto and old gear fairings/pants. Plus the original mechanical flaps. In this config, no special cleanup, I get 172KTAS @ 36L/hr. You should beat 990lb easy with a 320, and the CG will be better positoned. It will fly nice. I stall at 43KTS with flap, 45 without.
